Listered (sort of an object oriented Tumblr):
Body
Instead of having a site that specializes in storing photos or movies or texts, Listered lets the user define "things" as a set of properties so that THEY decide what a "movie" will be (title, cast, release date, reviews, poster photo, genre) to them. After they define a thing they can easily add items to that list according to the "blueprint" they just created.

Profiles are then separated into lists where each item has the custom properties that the list owner specified.

The site is targeted to people who are enthusiastic about something and want to create curated lists of those particular items. Examples would be "Beautiful buildings", "Best athletes of all time", "My favorite articles", "Best Books", "My Motorcycles", "Greatest bridges in the world", "New start-ups", etc...

The audience of these Listered users will be able to access a uniform feed of information about a certain topic.

The ability to "Follow a list" also exists so that you can see the latest item in all the lists you follow as soon as you log in.

Netflix Outage info
Subtitle
Outage likely a database issue, not bandwidth/streaming related
Body

Like many others around the interwebs, I ran into the fact that Netlix was down last night.

I attempted to access the website directly and was greeted by a message saying that both the website and streaming were currently down.

I continued to check the status by refreshing the page but then also attempted to access netflix through the Wii interface (of course expecting this not to work either).

The movies in the instand queue loaded up but no other category was accessible/visible. Expecting this to be due to some sort of caching I played one of the movies. IT WORKED! (watched the whole thing, site was still down at the time in browser).

This is interesting because it led me to believe that the issue here wasn't that Netflix was crippled by traffic or that their servers could not handle the load and deliver the content. It seemed to be an issue with retrieving the actual movie data, which would explain why their website was not up either but the server was responding, delivering the error page.

I assume since the movies in the instant queue were preloaded the "link" to the actual stream was available for them. Netflix was not however able to display and provide the sorting and searching capabilities available for the rest of their movie database.

Anyone else have info on whether this was in fact a database problem and also what sort of architecture they use??

Listered launching at TechCrunch Disrupt NYC
Body

Listered is now available to all users. Help me get feedback and ensure that we have everything right: the right features, great usability, a simple interface, awesome users... etc.

Additionally, I am planning to launch a public API for Listered that will allow devs to make queries and retrieve Listered data from their applications. I will participate at the Tech Crunch Hackathon in NYC and will give away all sorts of goodies to other participants who decide to use the Listered API as the driver behind their hack.

An invitation code will be required prior to that date to sign up for the API. You can get one early by registering at this link:

Listered.com - lists of user-defined objects. List some things!
Body

Hi. I'd like to introduce you to a new web application I have developed. It's a user-object oriented service where users can literally list anything.

Examples:
Favorite Articles, Advice Animals, CD Covers, Cool Apps

Listered lets you make lists of things you define. Paintings, restaurants, albums, articles, sneakers etc... Define the "thing"  and its properties and start listing. Once you define a "thing" a list for it is created and you can always go back and add to that list. Listered will remember all the fields of all your objects.

Users can list objects they want to save and compile to share with friends or objects that they are curating.
Lists can then be followed by other users. Upon logging in, you are shown a feed of the latest thing in the lists that you follow.

Lists can also be re-sorted according to any of their object's properties.

Check it out and send over any feedback at either:
